Safe operator states, operator engagement and novel HMI strategies
How to create efficient support between Driver and Automated Driving System? In-vehicle and/or remote human operators continue to play a critical role in ensuring safe functioning of AVs. Existing driver or operator monitoring systems need to assess the overall human-vehicle system safety in relation to other road users and the road environment.
This project will fuse vehicle sensors and monitoring system data to improve detection of operators’ safe attentional states, iteratively develop innovative automotive (or remote) Human-Machine Interfaces in support of safe attentional states in partial automated (or remote) driving, and validate them in real-world AV contexts.
