Social licence & acceptance, co-creation of support systems for AVs

How do current perceptions on consequences, use and benefits of AVs shape their future paths in rural settings?

This project will use co-design research approaches with real-world communities, probes and prototypes (in collaboration with Program 1) to identify community needs, concerns and design ideas for AVs in regional communities.

It will benefit from CI Foth’s previous research in regional Australia to work towards win-win designs that create safe deployments that communities are proud to host, use, and support as a shared responsibility. It identifies AV acceptance hurdles and risk factors incl. privacy and surveillance concerns, noise abatements, data governance, safety and animal welfare (both wildlife and livestock).
