How can future road and built environments support the safe introduction of AVs in rural areas?

This multidisciplinary project uses a human-centred lens to identify the needs of local stakeholders (including indirectly affected communities and ecosystems) and a data-driven approach (using data from use case developments and Program 1 projects) to develop principles for tailoring road and infrastructure needs. Novel roadside interventions are tested in simulations before deploying and evaluating them in existing areas.

The project generates new knowledge and develops innovative tools for measuring and mitigating the impact of AV interventions on local stakeholders.
